Jenica on identity

Jenica Rogers’ IOLUG speaker’s notes on online identity is just the kind of whip-smart thing we should all expect from Jenica. It should be required reading for library people who have an online identity, and required reading for people who somehow don’t (or think they don’t) have an online identity.
Of course I can’t help but think over how well I embody the practices and ideas that Jenica outlines. I’m reasonably happy with how I present myself online, though I recognize that sometimes I may go overboard in an attempt to make a joke or a point. But I made the bed, and I have to lie in it, and thus far it has been a very comfortable bed indeed.

Aw. Thanks.
I’m pretty comfy in the bed I made, as well — but it took some time to arrange it just so, and if I can help other people figure those things out, I’m glad to do it.

“We’re not ready for online identities as a profession”
Gah, so true. I enjoyed reading this, thanks Jenica [and Steve]!
