Beautifully put and inspiring. I completely agree with the part about people who say a library shouldn’t contain something being alarmed by what libraries do. The other issue is that so many people don’t understand libraries at all. They think we are one thing (usually a book warehouse) and are shocked to find we are so very much more.

On the good days, I think this is exactly what I love about libraries, only I'd never quite thought of it in those terms before. On the bad days, it's this sense of awakened imagination that I miss the most.
