Tagging books

My colleague, Marianne, came up to me today with this book she’d pulled out of the return bin. “Look at this,” she said with a grin. “User-created metadata!”
This isn’t usually what we are talking about when we talk about tagging books. But I suppose it was effective for this student, and that’s what counts. Plus it cracks me up every time I look at the photo.

i think you should make a library sponsored program out of this idea! host a tagging party, provide some stickes, and let the students ‘ave at it.

Steve: I looked up the book in the Tutt catalog to find out what it was, and found no book matching the call number.
Is it possible that the user-created metadata is about that printed call number?

Well, the book was obviously useless, so we just withdrew it and deleted the catalog record.
