Jessamyn West and Sarah Houghton-Jan both point to the video for Cascada’s “Everytime We Touch” on YouTube which reverses the gender on the typical straightlaced-librarian-lets-her-hair-down cliché. At first I thought this was just kind of funny.

But then I looked at it again, and I called my lawyer, as they have obviously based the librarian character on me without my permission.

Let’s look at the evidence:

  • glasses? check.
  • sweater vest? check.
  • dark hair, needs a haircut? check, check.
  • totally rad breakdancing moves? check-o-rama.
  • originally resists library party invasion of bland Europop group, then joins in enthusiastically? well, I might do that.

Yes, the guy in the video is at least ten years younger than I, and yes, I’m a married man and wouldn’t mess around with a Europopster, but still. That guy is totally me.
