Since the first mailing lists I was on were Japanese, I've been using those forever. ;; or ;_; crying, ^_^; or ^^; embarrassment (which is more symboloic of an asian convention used in anime/manga), and so on. But, lest I blow all my cred, I will have you know that I was into boingboing back in the early 1990s when it was a printed zine, <a href="http://boingboing.net/boings.html" rel="nofollow">bOING bOING</a> about cyberpunk and pop culture and the like. And I'm sorry to have to ask, but are these ^-^ raised eyebrows?
